Windows Installation
Microsoft's operating system is called Windows. Installing any version of Windows requires you to have met the minimum requirements for that specific version. Installing and using a new or updated Windows operating system is challenging, but Windows has a setup wizard that allows you to follow the steps of your Windows installation appropriately. With this setup wizard, it is even possible to create a custom installation of Windows, omitting features you may not want installed. Properly creating and completing a custom Windows installation can speed up your Windows operating system.
Instructions
- 1 Power down your computer. Wait 15 seconds and then power your computer back on.
- 2 Insert the Windows installation disc in to your computer. Your computer will read the disc and begin the Windows installation setup wizard automatically.
- 4 Click the "New Installation" option from the pop-up menu. Do not choose the Upgrade Windows option, as this will keep your older, not customized version of Windows.
- 5 Click the programs and applications you desire for your custom installation by selecting the boxes on the pop-up menu. Click the "Next" button on the bottom of the page once you have made your choices
- 6 Click the "Format Hard Drive" option. This will wipe out any previous installation of Windows on your computer if you had one.
- 7 Finalize your custom installation by completing the final installation questions on the setup wizard. Input your Windows product key when asked and click the "Install" button.
